About My Clients
As caregivers and supporters, women hold many titles, carry the weight of many responsibilities, and often leave themselves out of the equations. I specialize in helping women redefine their boundaries, process traumas and life transitions, and develop and strengthen their coping skills. Clients who work with me are often managing chronic illnesses, particularly breast cancer, coping with trauma, have difficulty regulating self-harming and suicidal behaviors, and navigating life transitions.
My Background and Approach
My approach to therapy and treatment is warm, accepting, affirming, and strength-based. My approach is to help clients strengthen their own skills while learning new tools, that they may experience growth, healing, self-efficacy, and self-confidence. Our work together will help you to become equipped with the necessary coping skills and tools to healthily manage life transitions, traumatic stress, chronic illnesses including breast cancer, suicidal ideations and behaviors, and self-harming behaviors. My approach is to help you develop the knowledge, understanding, tools, and awareness to help you feel empowered about making valuable changes to your life. I do this through my training as a licensed therapist, a certified trauma clinician, and I utilize evidence based interventions rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and mindfulness techniques.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
It is extremely important to me to create a safe, compassionate, and empathetic environment that facilitates change for clients. I am passionate about working with women, particularly Black women, to help them transform their lives and create opportunities for themselves. I was born and raised in Jamaica and identify as Jamaican-American. Hence, I am also an advocate for individuals of Caribbean heritage and immigrants who want to learn how to successfully navigate immigrating to a new country.
