About My Clients
I primarily work with clients who are grieving, some for a little while and some for years, wondering when the pain will subside. Grief has a crafty way of getting into every corner of our lives. I work with people of all ages through losses of all kinds, including big life transitions. I believe change is inevitable (as scary as it may be!) and everyone is capable of growth and change.
My Background and Approach
When working with children specifically, incorporating play is essential to allow them to communicate in their language. Using toys, children are able to invite us into their world and communicate challenging emotions and themes in their lives while building resilience and self-esteem at the same time. For adults, I create a safe, nonjudgemental space for them to show up authentically. I believe in meeting my clients where they are and incorporate various techniques depending on the need. For grief and loss specifically, I acknowledge that we live in a world where death is taboo and a topic that is avoided, so a consistent safe space to talk about it is essential to healing. I use existentialism at times, as grief can bring up those hard questions like “what does all this mean, anyway?” and incorporate strength-based techniques to provide empowerment to get through the hardest days.
