My clients seek deep listening and true empathy, a provider with lived experience balanced with book-learning. My clients show up wanting to do the work that life change requires. My clients are tired of being told 'what do to' or given unsolicited advice by a culture blinded by the quick fix. My clients understand international-mindedness and embrace diversity way beyond what we look like on the outside. My clients seek to heal in a space of kindness.
My Background and Approach
I earned my B.A. Psychology as a 1st gen college student in California, then later earned my counseling degree in 2003. I served 18+years counseling in schools, both domestic and international- Arizona and California, and China, United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait, living in communities that reflected the cultures hosting me. These vast cultural experiences have created an informed lens and open mind when it comes to treatment modalities and a sincere enjoyment of learning about others' cultural influences and sharing my own.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in equity, I believe in quality of character, in learning from everything, I believe in kindness and heart-led living, I believe in recovery and hope, I believe in standing up to the bully on micro and macro levels, I believe in poetry and art and that creativity is what makes this world a place worth being. I believe in ACCESS to quality services not just for the financially privileged. I believe in courage, and true engagement in therapy change-work takes courage. I believe in you. I am U.S. by nationality and American with European Ancestry aka known as "White" in modern culture.
