About My Clients
My ideal client is someone curious about their current and past experiences and how those impact their current challenges and strengths. I encourage clients to question, explore, and seek deeper understanding in therapy, especially with humor and creativity.
My Background and Approach
I engage with client-led, strengths-based therapeutic modalities based in cognitive behavioral therapies that help individuals and couples identify and understand obstacles, challenges, questions, and solutions. I am trained in trauma-informed care and understand that traumatic stress impacts all of us, whether those traumatic experiences were acute or chronic, long ago or recent. Environmental stressors such as capitalism, racism, war, climate change, discrimination, and more make our individual experiences even harder to grapple with, which is why I employ a bio-psycho-social-spiritual approach that considers your holistic wellness, experiences, and identities. Rather than “knowing it all,” as a therapist, I seek to be one link in a long chain of supports in your life as we work towards your specific goals.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
In her writings, Georgia O’Keefe reflected that “to see takes time.” For many, sitting with ourselves and our hopes, worries, desires, and struggles can be deeply uncomfortable and even confusing without support. Anxiety, depression, challenges related to neurodiversity and/or disability, and trauma can make the first steps even harder. Whether you’ve been considering therapy for a while, or you feel like you’ve suddenly hit a wall, I believe everyone comes to therapy with a desire to see and be seen.
