Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a classic talk therapy technique that helps increase awareness of negative thinking in order to better handle challenging situations. In addition to helping those with mental health disorders (such as anxiety or depression), CBT is also helpful for anyone who is looking to learn how to manage stressful situations. Therapists that use CBT often have a structured program, which involves a set number of sessions. CBT is frequently paired with other treatments, such as medication, when necessary. I love to see clients with challenges relating to ADHD, Autism, anxiety, grief, parenting, self harm, and trauma. My ideal client is a child, teen or adult looking for a compassionate space to explore themself and work towards who they want to be.

Being human is often tough. Sometimes we lose our way and can feel stuck and overwhelmed. Sometimes we would like to change parts of our lives or ourselves but don’t know how. Therapy can be an empowering way to promote healing, growth, and wellness. Often, we initially seek treatment to address a specific concern and then begin to uncover other areas of our lives in which we want to make meaningful change. My goal is for this process to feel supportive, affirming, and appropriately challenging.

I don't really have a particular population I focus on. I want to work with everybody! That said, I have a great deal of experience with adults with persistent and severe mental illness, adolescents with oppositional and defiant behavior, and clients seeking help from their local psychiatrist. I start every session with "Tell me what's going on with you. What can I do to help?" Then we go from there. I end every session with "Was that helpful?" I haven't heard "No" yet.
